The title of the exhibition means something like this: view from the window. The expression ‘Fensterblick’ refers to the attitude that is common to both artists. Michael Fanta and Gábor Király captures scenes from the everyday life or their immediate environment - as if they would gain their source of inspiration by simply looking out the window.
While Michael Fanta paints street scenes and dark interiors infused with personal stories and fantasy images, the paintings of Gábor Király present a mythological world full of magical creatures, although the background of the pictures is the down-to-earth, village life.
Though the exhibited paintings might seem to be melancholic, rigid and dark, finding the beauty worth painting in these banal topics is very much an optimistic gesture.
